Professor Shao Qiman, SUSTech Chair Professor, was appointed as Co-Editor of the Annals of Applied Probability

Recently, the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS) has elected Prof. Shao Qiman, SUSTech Chair Professor and head of Department of Statistics and Data Science, as the Co-Editor to Annals of Applied Probability, making him the first Chinese scholar appointed Co-Editor of the leading journal in the area of Probability.


The Annals of Applied Probability, established in 1991, is a leading peer-reviewed mathematics journal published by the Institute of Mathematical Statistics. It aims to publish research of the highest quality reflecting the varied facets of contemporary Applied Probability. Primary emphasis is placed on importance and originality.

Chair Professor, Shao Qiman


Professor Shao Qiman is a Chair Professor and head of Department of Statistics and Data Science at the Southern University of Science and Technology. He is a renowned scholar in the field of probability and statistics. His research interests include Asymptotic theory in probability and statistics, Self-normalized limit theory, Stein’s method for normal and non-normal approximation, and High-dimensional and large-scale statistical analysis. He was elected as the IMS Medallion Lecturer, and was awarded the State Natural Science Award (2nd Class) in 2015. He had also served as the Associate Editor of The Annals of Statistics and The Annals of Applied Probability, top influential journals in statistics and probability.
