Abstract
Networks are ubiquitous and play an important role in many different applications. There has also been an increasing interest in the study of various types of network data. Some of these problems include community detection, link prediction, and network feature extraction. In this talk, we will investigate several such problems involving network data, study their properties, and explore their various applications.
About the Speaker
Prof. Jing is a Professor at the Department of Mathematics, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). He is the Director of the Center for Statistical Science, HKUST. He is an ASA fellow, an IMS fellow, an elected member of the ISI. He is a Cheung Kong Chair Professor. He received the 2016 Second Class Award of the State National Natural Science of China. He also twice (2010, 2015) received the Second Class Award of the Research Excellence in Natural Sciences, Ministry of Education of China. He serves as Associate Editors for Canadian Journal of Statistics, Statistics and Its Interface, Journal of Business & Economic Statistics, Science in China, Journal of Data Science, Statistical Theory and Related Field. He published over 90 research papers. His research interests include Statistical Learning, Bioinformatics, Financial Econometrics, and Network Data.
